Soft-type polyethylene foam backer rod for controlling sealant depth in glazing and building joints. Bi-cellular and highly compressible, it seats into irregular and variable-width joints without gassing or bubbling the sealant. Sealants will not adhere to it, so no separate bond breaker is required.
It holds your sealant at the correct depth so the bead forms the proper hourglass profile and moves the way it was designed to, and it cuts the volume of sealant the joint consumes. Produced without CFCs or HCFCs.
Which diameter for your joint
The joint is the gap between the two pieces you are sealing — pane to frame, panel to panel, slab to slab. Measure that gap and pick the rod one size larger, so it squeezes in and stays put: roughly 25% larger than the gap, installed at 25% to 50% compression. A rod that drops in loose does nothing.

Chemically inert; resists gasoline, oil and most solvents, and will not stain or adhere to sealants. Compatible with most cold-applied sealants including urethane, silicone, acrylic, butyl, polysulfide and chinking sealants. Not for hot-applied sealants. Install with a roller or a blunt, flat-sided tool; avoid puncturing, stretching and over-compression.

Delivery
Local delivery is free across New York City — all five boroughs, brought by our own van from our Jersey City warehouse. Past the city we deliver out to 50 miles for $50, with a $2,000 order minimum, because at that distance we run a full pallet. Enter your address at checkout and it will show which applies.
Beyond 50 miles the checkout will not offer a delivery option, because it cannot price freight. That does not mean we will not deliver: press Get Volume Pricing above, tell us the quantity and your ZIP code, and we will quote the freight for your address.
Orders over 150 pounds cannot ship by parcel carrier and move by freight on a pallet. Where a volume price states that local delivery is included, that price covers the delivery.
